A Legal Exchange In Creating A New Chapter In Cross-border Collaboration

On September 26, 2024, we held a successful business exchange meeting between Haldanes and Beijing Yingke (Guangzhou) Law Firm at our Central office. This event brought together legal professionals from both regions, with the goal of fostering friendly exchanges and collaboration among lawyers.

The meeting was led by Paul Wang, a partner at Haldanes, who highlighted the recent implementation of new regulations regarding the enforcement of Mainland judgments in Hong Kong. He noted that these changes have significantly eased the process of executing such judgments. Paul emphasized the importance of early collaboration between mainland lawyers and Hong Kong lawyers, urging that they present a joint work proposal even before clients take legal action in PRC. By anticipating the future enforcement of assets in Hong Kong rather than waiting until the conclusion of legal proceedings in the PRC, law firms can devise effective strategies that fully protect clients’ rights and further integrate legal services across both regions.

During the meeting, lawyers from Beijing Yingke (Guangzhou) Law Firm presented their respective areas of expertise, encompassing fields such as criminal-civil intersection and customs trade. The discussion provided an in-depth analysis of the legal challenges faced by mainland clients in Hong Kong, particularly in relation to telecom fraud cases, where many mainland individuals find themselves in urgent need of professional legal support.

Overall, this meeting served as a valuable platform for lawyers from both regions to deepen their understanding of the legal differences between Mainland China and Hong Kong. Through sharing case studies and exchanging legal insights, participants gained clearer perspectives on managing cross-border cases and expressed a shared enthusiasm for establishing closer cooperative relationships moving forward.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this event. We look forward to future collaborations!
