Community Work
Our community, our commitment
It’s easy to say we care about our clients and our community.
A community we’ve been a part of for more than four decades.
A place where we’ve been able to grow from a small but ambitious team, into a multi-award winning law firm.
Like we say, it’s easy for us to say it.
So, instead, we’ll leave it to the words and pictures below to show our commitment.
And you can judge for yourselves.
“We’ve all felt the desire to ‘do good,’ however, it rarely goes beyond an occasional donation, a bid at a charity auction, or possibly a half marathon. However, on meeting Hong Kong Olympic swimmers Stephanie Au, Camille Cheng, and Jamie Yeung a year ago, I encountered in them a desire to make ‘doing good’ a serious attempt to improve the lives of young Hong Kongers.
These three young women wanted to create a charity, Mind The Waves, to help destigmatise the topic of youth mental health and wellbeing across the city. Now, starting a business is one thing, but founding a charity is a whole lot more complex, so we turned to John McLellan of Haldanes for support and guidance. His expert counsel and generosity of resources have made the complex task of navigating the IRD application a smooth, successful, and stress-free journey, allowing us to focus on creating content and building our community.
Haldanes consistently takes a human approach to the solutions it provides, offering pragmatic and sensitive solutions to the challenges we bring them, and the support we get from every member of their team is deeply appreciated.”

“Mother’s Choice is so grateful for the long-term support that we have received from Haldanes. Over the years, the amazing team at Haldanes has volunteered in many ways:
- providing legal training to our frontline social workers,
- giving pro bono legal advice to the organization and our vulnerable clients
- joining in our community events,
- and helping to raise much-needed funds so that we can keep our doors open for babies and young mothers in our city.
Haldanes is an example of our mission as they have joined hands with us to give hope and change life stories.
With gratitude,”
